about

Anthropocene is an ongoing project of mine which began as my thesis project at Berklee's Global Jazz Institute. These four tracks were recorded as part of the completion of that program. Each track is a setting of a different poem I encountered over the course of my studies. I came to all four poets for the same reason. Each displayed a deep connection with the natural world and their environment in a way I felt I was missing.

Silence is a setting of Gary Snyder’s “Without”
Jungle is an interpretation of GE Patterson’s “The Natural World”
Civilization Circus is a setting of Langston Hughes’s “Lament for Dark People”
Dirt is a setting of an untitled poem by Nanao Sakaki

The album artwork is by me. It features two characters in an upcoming original comic created and illustrated by myself as a visual component for Anthropocene.

This album is free / pay what you want. If you are interested in spending money on this project. Please consider donating all or a portion of what you would spend to any charity focused on taking actions against climate change.

I could not have created this music without a very long list of people. To name a few I would like to thank Bruno Raberg, Danilo Perez, Marco Pignataro, Susan Hagen, Doug Johnson, and Jason Moran as well as the musicians who brought my music to life.
